These boxes aren’t the hardest thing to learn how to operate but there’s some things you may not know about that will make your experience much more enjoyable. First thing you have to ask yourself before purchasing one of these boxes is ” What do I plan on using this box for?” Maybe you only plan on streaming media via Kodi and don’t need to do anything else with your android box. Maybe you’d like to explore the possibilities of gaming using an emulator or browsing the web and using facebook. After all these boxes are just mini pc’s that run the android operating system. So welcome to my guide on How to use an android tv box.
Now that I’ve got you thinking about what your intentions with this box is, let me go over in detail with you about your options.
Using your android box for streaming – If you only want to purchase an android tv box just so you can stream your favorite tv shows and movies then you really don’t need to go all out and can save a few bucks. You can buy a box that has one gigabyte of ram and eight gigabytes of memory without limiting your streaming experience. So streaming is your plan and all you wanna find out is what can I use to stream on my android box? Well there’s obviously multiple apps you can use that are on the google play store. Kodi will be the main streaming app of your choice and all you need to do is setup the proper addons to get it working.
A few other great apps would include Netflix, Hulu and amazon tv but you need a paid subscription to all these services to view their content, luckily for you they’re pretty darn cheap.
Using your android box for gaming – So you’re not really interested in purchasing an android tv box for streaming. You’ve heard that these boxes can play quite a few games and even run emulators. Well of course if you’re familiar with the android operating system you should know that there isn’t really much that limits what you can do with android. If you were to buy an android tv box strictly for gaming I would go with a box that at least has two gigabytes of ram and sixteen gigabytes of memory so you don’t have a crappy experience. Now if you’re not on a budget you can go a little further and spend a few more bucks on a Nvidia Shield.
The Nvidia Shield android box comes with its own controller and boasts a 4k display. If you were to purchase a box for gaming I’d suggest the nvidia shield because Nvidia is a reliable company that has been around for many years and doesn’t cheap out on their features or gear. You’re less likely to run into any issues with the nvidia shield for gaming purposes unlike any of the Chinese Android Boxes.
Using your Android Tv Box for everything – So you want a box that is the jack of all trades, you essentially want a mini pc hooked up to your tv to let you do your day to day internet activities. Android tv boxes have the google play store installed as they run the android operating system, so in reality the world is your oyster. Most android tv boxes already come with a few apps installed, apps that we use daily. You can browse facebook, watch videos on youtube, log into instagram and browse. You can basically do anything you’d like with these boxes just like using your smart phone or computer. But to have a power house of a box that can withstand this type of activity, I would suggest one that has at least four gigabytes of ram and for you to use an external hard drive to increase your memory space.
